Dhow Experience
Set sail from Jambiani aboard a traditional dhow, guided by local hands with generations of knowledge on the water. Snorkel and spot starfish, watch the sun go down over the Indian Ocean, cast a line, sail to the Blue Lagoon and the Rock, or settle onto a sandbank for a seafood picnic. Every trip is shared with a small group of up to four, and pick-up and drop-off are always in Jambiani. Wine, beer, and fresh seafood are included on select trips, and our dhow is motor-equipped, so we're never limited by wind.

Sip & Sail · $95 per person · 2 hours
Snorkel, sail, settle into a chill spot on the water, and spot starfish, with a glass of wine and fresh fruit. A relaxed two hours off Jambiani.
Snorkel, Sail & Ocean Lunch · $160 per person · 3 hours
The same snorkel, sail, chill spot, and starfish outing, stretched to three hours with beer, wine, and a seafood lunch served on the water.
Fishing Game · $160 per person · 3 hours
Three hours of fishing off Jambiani with a local captain and crew, followed by a seafood lunch and a Castle Lite beer.
Sandbank Picnic · $180 per person · 3 hours
Three hours on a sandbank with wine, beer, and a seafood lunch. The sandbank will be either Makunduchi or Jambiani — our captain chooses on the day based on the tide, since the water can be too high at one or the other, so guests don't pick the location.
Sip & Sunset — Michamvi · $230 per person · 4 hours · Minimum 2 guests
Sail up the coast to Michamvi for sunset, with beer, wine, and a seafood lunch. This is a one-way trip by boat; the car ride back to Jambiani is included.
Blue Lagoon & the Rock · $220 per person · 4 hours · Minimum 2 guests
Sail from Jambiani to Paje for four hours among clear turquoise shallows, pale sand, and coral, with the Rock standing out against the open water. Beer, wine, and a seafood lunch are served on board, and the dhow takes you there and brings you back to Jambiani.
Sip & Sunset — Jambiani · $95 per person · 2 hours
Two hours on the water as the sun goes down, with wine and fruit.
Included on every dhow trip:
Life jackets, snorkeling gear, water, a local captain and crew, and the motorized dhow, plus the food and drinks listed for your trip.
Sip & Sunset Michamvi and Blue Lagoon & the Rock are booked for 2 or more guests. Traveling on your own? You're welcome to join us as a solo guest. A trip for one is booked as a private trip, at $345 for Sip & Sunset Michamvi and $330 for Blue Lagoon & the Rock. Good to know:
- Arrive by the time listed — the dhow departs 15 minutes later. All meeting points and drop-offs are in Jambiani.
- Our dhow is motor-equipped, so we're not limited by wind, with more flexibility around the tide.
- Conditions on the water depend on the tide and weather; we'll reach out if anything needs to change.
- A light layer is recommended — it can get breezy on the water.
- Bring a towel, swimsuit, sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, and water shoes.
- Sip & Sunset — Michamvi is one-way by boat; the car ride back to Jambiani is included in the price.
- Sip & Sunset — Michamvi and Blue Lagoon & the Rock require a minimum of 2 guests per booking.
- Sandbank Picnic: the location (Makunduchi or Jambiani sandbank) is chosen by the captain based on the tide, not by the guest.
- Trip lengths: Sip & Sail and Sip & Sunset — Jambiani are 2 hours; Ocean Lunch, Fishing Game, and Sandbank Picnic are 3 hours; Sip & Sunset — Michamvi and Blue Lagoon & the Rock are 4 hours.
